Welcome to MotorCity Handball, a Detroit-based non-profit club dedicated to growing Olympic team handball in Metro Detroit. We offer beginner-friendly youth and adult programs, weekly practices, clinics, and competitive opportunities for athletes looking for a fast, physical, and exciting new sport.
Whether you are completely new to handball or have experience playing at a competitive level, MotorCity Handball is building an inclusive community where players of all backgrounds can learn, improve, and compete.
Olympic team handball is one of the world’s fastest-paced team sports.
Played by millions globally and featured in the Summer Olympics, the game combines elements of basketball, soccer, and water polo into a high-energy indoor sport focused on speed, teamwork, and athleticism. Players pass, jump, defend, and shoot while working together to score goals against the opposing team.

MotorCity Handball welcomes beginners with no prior experience required.
Many of our players discovered the sport for the first time through local practices, community events, or Olympic coverage. Our club focuses on helping new players learn the fundamentals in a supportive and approachable environment.

Our goal is to help grow handball opportunities for both youth and adults in Detroit.
MotorCity Handball currently supports adult programming while actively building partnerships and community relationships to expand youth handball opportunities across Metro Detroit.

We regularly host practices, training sessions, and community events in the Detroit area. New players are encouraged to reach out, ask questions, and attend a session to learn more about the sport.
Whether your goal is fitness, competition, or simply trying something new, MotorCity Handball welcomes athletes of all experience levels.
